Overview

My background in the NHS, in a range of acute and community settings, has given me an interest in the broad application of systemic ideas and practice. I am interested in the development of the Intermediate Course both as a resource for professionals who wish to integrate systemic thinking into their practice as well as for those who plan to complete their therapeutic training by undertaking the MSc. I am committed to bringing a systemic understanding of issues related to different life and cultural experiences to the courses and to ensure that this is consistently demonstrated in the training experience. My own practice is influenced by ideas from Narrative and Collaborative therapy:

  • Stratton P M, McGovern M. (2006) Family therapy practitioners researching the reactions of practitioners to an outcome measure. Australian and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy, 27 (3), 217–236.
  • McGovern M and Harmsworth P. (2010), A taste of reflecting practice. Journal of Family Therapy, 32, 440–443
