Overview

Tom is a Senior Research Fellow in the Academic Unit of Primary Care, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences.

He manages ASPIRE, a five-year, £2 million research programme funded by the NIHR. ASPIRE aims to develop and test ways to support general practices in implementing evidence-based practice effectively and realistically within the constraints and challenges of real-life general practice. The ASPIRE team are developing a tailored intervention package to improve adherence to a selection of high-impact clinical recommendations.

Tom has undertaken research in health psychology since completing his PhD in 2006. In addition to ASPIRE, his recent work has included the evaluation of interventions to prevent child obesity (HENRY, WATCH-IT), and the psychological impact of genetic testing. He has previously worked at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London, Goldsmiths College, and St George's, University of London.
