Summary: I manage the day-to-day running of several melanoma research projects.
Location: Cancer Genetics Building
I qualified as a staff nurse at Leeds in 2000 and spent almost six years working in Urology, including three years as a research nurse working on the ProtecT prostate cancer trial. In 2006 I joined the Section of Epidemiology and Biostatistics to work within the Melanoma Research Group for Prof. Julia Newton-Bishop. I manage several melanoma studies and I am the first point of contact for many study participants. For example, I am coordinating a study that is developing a blood test of immunity in illness.
In addition to my research nurse role, I am a dermatology nurse practitioner, based at Chapel Allerton Hospital. I am also involved in the wider life of the University and Trust and have supported several Green initiatives. In 2013 I won a Biodiversity University Sustainability Award for creating a small roof top garden.
