Overview

James is Professor of International Public Health. He teaches epidemiological and statistical methods. His research focuses on improving delivery of health services in low- and middle-income countries. He is also the Institute’s Academic Lead for Research and leads the University of Leeds’s submission for Unit of Assessment 2 (public health, health services and primary care) to the Research Excellence Framework.

James has worked for the University of Leeds since 1995. Prior to that he has worked in Tanzania on research to reduce the incidence of HIV; research to improve ventilation in coal mines; and operational research for Shell.
