Overview

Cathy has an interest in research that seeks to understand the impact of illness in children and families and the factors that can contribute to well-being both at an individual and a social level. Cathy’s doctoral research employed visual methods to explore sibling experiences of life-limiting illness and she is interested in the development of visual and participatory methods to explore health and illness. Subsequent projects have used such methods in seeking to understand self-harm.

Cathy also has experience in methods for evidence synthesis including systematic reviews and realist synthesis.

Cathy is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is Programme Leader of the Masters in Public Health (MPH) and Strand Leader (Applied Population Health) on the MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She also teaches on the MBChB and the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme.

Cathy has previously held research posts at the University of Oxford and the University of Bristol.
