Mark Mon-Williams studies the control of human action with particular regard to the use of visual information in guiding hand movements. His recent research has explored hand movements (kinematics) in children with and without neurodevelopmental problems. This research has led to the development of CKAT (the Clinical Kinematic Assessment Tool) - a system capable of providing objective measures of the difficulties experienced by children with neurodevelopmental disorders. He is currently exploring how robotic systems can help children (and stroke survivors) improve upper limb control and is investigating whether therapeutic intervention can be augmented with electrical brain stimulation techniques.
