Clinical Experience

Sheffield Children's Hospital Sleep Service-Clinical Placement (September 2016-December 2016)

During my PhD, I completed a three month clinical placement at Sheffield Children’s Hospital Sleep Service under the supervision of Professor Heather Elphick. This placement enabled me to gain invaluable hands-on clinical and research experience within an NHS setting. During my placement I was able to attend the sleep clinic, the research meetings and I worked on the sleep unit on an evening. I received one-to-one training from Dr Ruth Kingshott (Senior Sleep Physiologist) on how to analyse the polysomnography (sleep) data I collected during my PhD.

Launch of The Children's Sleep Charity Manifesto at Westminster

On Tuesday 24th October 2017, I attended the launch of The Children's Sleep Charity sleep manifesto for children and young people in The Houses of Parliament. The manifesto calls for better national understanding of the importance of sleep, for quality sleep support to be available for families and for sleep to be recognised as a vital component of mental health. The manifesto can be downloaded here www.thechildrenssleepcharity.org.uk/manifesto
