Overview

John has worked as a practitioner in the field of counselling and psychotherapy since 1987. Since 2008 he has been a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health and contributes to teaching in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. 

His clinical interests are generic with a specialist interest in working with trauma, engaging the healing potential of clients, addressing the psycho-social and inter-generational causes of psychological distress and working as part of an integrated complementary and alternative medicine team as an anthroposophic psychotherapist. 

His research interests include investigating the cultural and social factors in psychological distress, the relationship between counselling, psychotherapy and complementary and alternative medicine, research as transformation and the development of creative qualitative research methods. 

He has edited or co-edited four books, a Routledge counselling journal and has written several peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed articles in the fields of anthroposophy, transformational research methods and counselling and psychotherapy.
