Overview

Beverley received a Degree in Biology from the University of York in 1983, and trained as an RGN in Stoke-on-Trent, qualifying in 1986. She worked as a surgical nurse, both in Stoke and Leeds, on a variety of wards including, gastroenterology, urology, gynaecology, general surgery, breast surgery and vascular surgery.

She also worked as a research nurse in the gastroenterology unit at Leeds General Infirmary, specialising in the link between peptic ulcer disease and Helicobacter pylori infection, and inflammatory bowel disease.

She provided health promotion to patients in the gastroenterology unit and received a Masters Degree in Health Education & Health Promotion in 1996.

She entered teaching in 1995 and received a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Professional Education in 1998. She teaches on a variety of physiology modules in the School and specialises in the teaching of infection prevention.

She has been the pathway leader for the Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention & Control since its inception in 2001.
