Overview

Summary: My research interests focus on the communication of risk of harm and likelihood of benefit of medicines to patients and healthcare providers.

Rebecca is a nursing lecturer – adult. Her research and teaching interests focus on medicines and medicines information. She has a particular interest in the ways in which risk of harm and likelihood of benefit is communicated to patients in written medicines information. Rebecca has also undertaken research into techniques used to improve patient access to key information about medicines.

Her PhD was jointly funded by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency and her work has informed the European Medicines Agency. Rebecca joined the University of Leeds in 2005 as research nurse recruiting patients to the Care Homes Use of Medicines Study and has since become more involved in undertaking research into medicines management and is now the lead for Medicines Management for adult nurses in the school. 

Rebecca is also a member of the School of Healthcare Ethics Committee and jointly runs the Early Career Research Network.
