Overview

I am a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy in the School of Healthcare and particularly contribute to the MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling programme. In addition, I teach and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students across the professions in the School. My educational and research interest are in maternal well-being, body image and self-esteem, eating behaviours/eating disorders, attachment and mother-infant mealtime interactions. I welcome applications from PhD students in these fields.

I hold an MA in Psychodrama from Lesley University, USA; an MSc in Nutrition and Obesity from the University of Leeds UK and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Leeds UK. I am a trained psychotherapist and a registered member of professional bodies: United Kingdom Counselling and Psychotherapy (UKCP), British Psychodrama Association (BPA) and the Israeli Psychodrama Association (IPA). I have more than 10 years of experience of counselling for obesity, eating disorders, addictions and trauma and I have supervised masters students in the area of psychology and psychodrama.

Prior to moving to the UK, I was the creator and manager of an obesity prevention intervention in one of the largest hospitals in Israel (The Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer) and studied obesity in Jewish Orthodox and non-Orthodox populations. Having moved to the UK I continued my scholarship work in Israel and I am a visitor lecturer in the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
