Faculty Lead for Health Professional Education Research

Summary: I am the Lead for Health Professional Education Research in the Faculty of Medicine and Health

Location: Baines Wing

Overview

I am Lead for Health Professional Education Research in the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Principal Research Fellow in the School of Healthcare. My research interests include professional education and practice, co-production, professional responsibility, supervision, transitions, learning in clinical settings and inter professional education. My current work is focussed on inequalities and exclusion, particularly in relation to mental health.

Previously I was Lead for Research in the Leeds Institute of Medical Education where I was involved in local, regional and national activities aimed at developing and extending medical education research. This included establishing and facilitating the New and Early Careers Research Group, running regional and national events through the Centre for Research in Professional Education and being a member of the Education Research Group of the Association for the Study of Medical Education.

I have undertaken a wide range of research projects with local, national and international partners in academia and clinical settings. This has included work on learning and practice in clinical settings, supervision, transitions, professional responsibility, gender, policy related research, understandings about professional identity and multi-disciplinary working. Much of this work is interdisciplinary and informed by contemporary practice-based socio-material understandings of learning.
