Health Services Research

Established in 2012, staff provide expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodology, applied health strategy and design and the following areas:

  • Applied health statistics, including; the handling of missing data, observational studies, using routine datasets and data modelling
  • Health politics and the governance of health care delivery and of information technologies in healthcare
  • Translational research opportunities, multi-disciplinary partnerships between the NHS, HEIs, industry and patients and Patient Public Involvement (PPI) in clinical studies
  • Qualitative research methodology and design, including; behavioral attitudes towards testing, issues surrounding genetic testing, patient’s perspectives and experiences, patient reported outcome measures, quality of life issues, consensus exercises, systematic review and evidence synthesis.

Members work in close partnership with colleagues across the University and the NHS. In addition to delivering support and supervision for post-graduate students and fellowship applicants from within the University, LTHT and other organisations, staff contribute to a learning and teaching portfolio that includes post-graduate and CPD course elements.

The Applied Health Co-operative is part of the Division. It is a partnership research initiative with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, with a priority aim to increase funding for applied health research projects and build capacity in health services research.
