Research-led teaching is a core principal underpinning all of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Student Education activities in LIGHT. Our mission is to develop and enhance intervention strategies targeted at preventing and/or improving the clinical treatment and management of common chronic diseases through the integration of cutting edge research and high quality education of young researchers.
The University of Leeds School of Medicine, voted one of the top three medical schools in the country by the 2011 National Student Survey, trains future doctors on the MBChB programme and professionally-focused intercalated programmes. LIGHT leads several integrated core units (ICUs) across the 5 years of the MBChB curriculum and hosts the School of Medicine intercalated Clinical Sciences BSc Programmes in Medical Imaging and Cardiovascular Medicine.
We host an exciting portfolio of MSc programmes closely aligned to the key internationally-recognised research themes of the Institute. Our programmes are designed to introduce students to cutting edge investigative techniques and provide the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research into common chronic diseases supervised by leading researchers in the field.
