An active program of methodological research, considering a broad range of issues arising from the design and evaluation of complex interventions (Lancaster et al., 2010, Walwyn & Roberts (2010), is ongoing within the Complex Intervention Division. This research is undertaken in the environment of a vibrant academic trials unit, so benefits from an application driven approach, with a focus on developing usable solutions for a diverse range of trials conducted within the unit.
Major areas of methodological research activity include:
The Division is also building specific expertise in the assessment of intervention adherence, the handling of missing hierarchical data, analysis of multivariate outcomes and in formal experimental designs for multivariate interventions and is investigating a range of other methodological issues.
Results are disseminated through regular methodology meetings within the CTRU, and externally, through journal publications and presentations at local, national and international conferences.
