The strategic research aims of the Institute are to utilise research excellence in genetics, cell biology, in vivo models of disease and clinical trials, in specific clinical areas including inherited disease, infection & immunity, peri-operative management, gastrointestinal disease and reproductive medicine, in order to impact on clinical practice and subsequent health outcomes on a local, national and global level.
Significant impact in several areas including testing for genetic disease and widespread uptake of surgical technique will be highlighted in the University REF2014 return. Details of specific examples of clinical impact arising from LIBACS research will be described later in the year after the REF2014 submission.
