The first Senior Translational Research fellows (STRFs) were appointed in Summer 2008 and funded as part of the BHRC. The STRF scheme recruited excellent early career researchers into 5-year tenure track posts that were structured to promote collaboration and joint mentoring between basic and applied/clinical scientists.
