The School of Dentistry is a forward looking and innovative clinical academic centre offering a wide range of education and training programmes for the whole dental team.
The School and Leeds Dental Institute recently completed a £9.5m refurbishment, making our clinical and teaching facilities among the best in the country. Our flagship Dental Translational and Clinical Research Unit (DenTCRU), funded by the Wellcome Trust, provides a unique clinical environment to accelerate research innovation for patient benefit.
Postgraduate teaching is one of the most exciting developments in the School of Dentistry. Our programmes combine our excellence in teaching and research to enhance and deepen professional, clinical and academic knowledge, as well as understanding of issues specific to practice in each specialist area. They are designed to be interactive, individually tailored and responsive, placing you and your educational aims at the centre, with educational and pastoral support.
Our students have access to clinical and basic science researchers with international reputations in their respective fields. With a track record in clinical research excellence underpinned by outstanding basic science research, we hold an inter-disciplinary and holistic approach to meeting international priority needs for translational and clinical research in dentistry.
We are part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health in the University of Leeds. The Faculty is one of the largest medical faculties in Europe and is at the forefront of leading edge clinical interventions and discovery.
The University of Leeds School of Dentistry works in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Leeds Dental Institute provides routine dental care for patients in support of undergraduate training and also acts as a referral centre for specialist dental care to the population of Leeds and the surrounding region.
