According to the National Cancer Research Institute, the city of Leeds is ninth in the UK by cancer research funding. The University has active cancer research grants totalling over £100m, whilst as our strategic partner, LTHT has over 200 cancer treatment trials running at any one time. Our research covers a huge range of specialist areas from surgical robotics to data analytics and is supported by a variety of local, regional, national and international funders, including pharmaceutical companies.

We have crucial partnerships with the major research funders including the National Institute for Health Research, Cancer Research UK, the Medical Research Council, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Candlelighters and the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Charitable Foundation.

The University is also actively engaged in fundraising. Our £100m Making a World of Difference campaign is engaging with alumni and other donors to fund projects across the campus – and has a particular current focus on supporting our work in brain cancer.

On behalf of our patients, volunteers and staff we would like to say a sincere thank you to all our funders.
