Advances in molecular and digital pathology and genomics promise to have a huge impact on medicine, patients and our understanding of human disease. Pathology and Tumour Biology at the University of Leeds is a leading centre in the UK with internationally recognised research groupings for pathology/molecular pathology and digital pathology. It works closely with the Genomics facilities, including next generation sequencing and single cell facilities. Together, we aim to deliver improvements in patient outcome and further our understanding of human disease. This research is based mainly at St James's University Hospital, where academic pathology integrated with the NHS Clinical Histopathology Department, one of the largest in the UK. This creates an excellent clinical test bed for developments and benefits from strong collaborations with the MRC Centre for Medical Bioinformatics, surgery, computing, data visualisation and health engineering. We have a number of commercial collaborators and strongly promote the translation of innovative ideas into commercial products.
