Maternal weight in pregnancy: acknowledging stigma and communicating risk

A series of FREE workshops for health care practitioners run by leading health care researchers from the School of Healthcare.

Dr Alice Keely and Dr Tomasina Stacey

Midwives and other healthcare practitioners face the challenges of caring for women increased maternal weight in pregnancy (overweight and obesity). In this interactive workshop, drawing on our own research findings, we will focus on developing practical, woman-centred approaches to health, focussing on the role of stigma, giving healthy lifestyle advice and, in particular, talking about risk.
