Professor Laura Stroud will present her inaugural lecture
Professor Laura Stroud, Chair of Public Health and Education Innovation, Director of Leeds Institute of Health Sciences and Head of the Centre for Innovation in Health Management.
The (he)art and science of leadership
Laura has worked in Leeds for nearly 20 years despite living in at the coast near Newcastle because she is inspired by the way we do things round here.
Lauras expertise is in professional education and supervision. She has significant experience of mentoring and supporting development of individuals and teams and has held a number of roles as an independent chair or expert invitee in the health and not-for-profit sector.
She first became interested in Public Health during a career break precipitated by the birth of triplet daughters she co-founded a local self-help group, following which Laura was invited to become a member (subsequently Chair) of a Community Health Council. This started a continuing interest in population health and well-being, from community activism to education and research, now realised in her work in the School of Medicine through academic leadership.
A light lunch will be available in the Airport Lounge after 1.30pm at the conclusion of the lecture.
