Prof. Jens Blechert University of Salzburg, Austria Psychobiological factors in food choice and craving

Abstract: Dr. Blechert is a clinical and health psychologist at the Centre for Cognitive Neuroscienceand the Department of Psychology in Salzburg, Austria. He studies emotional eating and dieting in peoples' lives using smart phones and questionnaires. He also investigates the underlying neural systems in the laboratory to determine which self-regulatory mechanisms might help people in making healthier food choices. Using these tools he and his team also try to understand the psychopathology of eating disorders like Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. He heads the ERC starting grant project NewEat.
